How to lose weight without gaining muscle?
20 Sep 2009
I forgot to put this in my other question about losing weight but I want to lose weight without gaining muscle…I mainly want to lose weight in my stomach [I kinda want a 6 pack, so tips on that would help] and I want to lose weight in my arms and thighs. So step by step and tips would be really helpful. Thanks! :]
Go easy on tea and coffee. Tea and coffee are harmless by themselves. It’s when you add the cream and sugar that they become fattening. Did you know that having a cup of tea or coffee that has cream and at least two cubes of sugar is as bad as having a big piece of rich chocolate cake’

I appreciate they say that pills won’t work, but they definitely worked for me, and they’ve been showcased on CNN too. There’s a free trial going on at the moment at http://perohn.mysmartdiet.info , give it a try, what have you got to lose?

2009 Sep 20 3Why would you want to lose weight and not gain muscle?
Without adding muscle to your abdomen you can’t have a six-pack.
If you diet correctly, you can lose a certain amount of fat but to lose stored body-fat efficiently you’d need to exercise and that will almost certainly "tone" your muscles and make you stronger.
By adding muscle you give your body the ability to burn more stored fat so you can see the six-pack when you add it.
To smooth out your upper arms and thighs you need to add muscle because it’s the fat under the skin that causes cellulite. With muscle there instead the cellulite is not visible.
Women do not gain bulky muscles the same way that men do. For a woman to gain muscle and make it stand out is a long and difficult task. Regular exercise and a little weight lifting-will make a woman’s body smooth and svelte.

As a girl, you’d have a REALLY hard time getting super-buff, because your hormones just aren’t built to bulk. Women who are really cut have been working on their physiques for years.
Besides, if you just lose weight but don’t gain muscle, you’ll still be flabby… just skinny flabby.

2009 Sep 20 5First off, DON’T fall for the ACAI Berry RUBBISH. It doesn’t work, and you’ll only lose money from the industry con men. If the Acai Berries were that good, they wouldn’t need to Span Yahoo! Answers, would they.
Now, unfortunately Targeted Fat Loss isn’t possible. But, what you can do it promote fat loss in area’s by doing targeting exercises, which you’ll find most rewarding, couple with a strict, balanced diet.
I’m 18, and have lost 2 stone in nearly 3 weeks. I wasn’t obese, I just had lots of fat on my stomach (I’m sad to say), but, it’s going and fast.
I only do minimal excerise because my Fat Loss is general targeted across the entire body. Here is what I eat:
Oatmeal and Meat for Breakfast
Fruit for a Snack
Meat and Salad for Lunch
Fruit for a Snack
Meat and Vegetables for Dinner
That ends at around about 7pm. I don’t advice you eating after 7.
As you can see from the Diet above, it contains 80% Protein, 20% Natural Carbs and 10% Fat. That’s what your aim is.
My excerise is 30 Minutes of Cardio, and 2 sessions of 15 minute weight training exercises with Dumbells. I also do sit up and push ups in the mornings and evening.
I’m glad to say, you won’t build any muscle. In order for you to build muscle, you would need to increase your intake of Calories, and work a lot harder on the Weight Training.
The above diet and exercise should see you fit in around a weeks, for me, luckily a month. Dedication, Motivation and Self-Discipline is the key to Fat Loss.
So, the protein will help burn the fat, and also keep you from burning muscle, which you want to avoid. When I say protein, I’m referring to the meat. Meat in my opinion is vital.
I wish you the best of luck in losing weight. If you need any further information, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Hope that helps!

2009 Sep 20 6Well first up you want to lose weight on your stomach and then your thighs and arms too, well that’s pretty much your whole body right!?
But that is a good think because I am sorry to say that there is no such thing as spot reduction, body fat comes off pretty much evenly from all the different places ot tends to be stored so what you need is an effective plan to reduce overall body fat levels.
As you lower body fat you will be able to see the shape of your stomach muscles coming through but it is also a good idea to try and tone and develop these with some core work.
So 1st step: Weight Loss/Fat Burning
Your body will not burn fat stores unless it is in a calorie deficit. What I mean is, there needs to be less calories going in than you use during the day. So there are two ways we can achieve a calorie deficit. eat less calories or do more physical work but ideally we should combine the two.
A really good time to burn fat is when your body has a naturally low reserve of carbohydrates such as first thing in the morning. You should try and do 30-40 minutes of cardio work (running, walking, swimming) first thing in the morning before your breakfast to give your fat burning a boost.
Then do some core exercises like core blanks and bridges (I will include a link to a youtube vid in the signature that shows you how to do these).
Try do each one and hold for 30 seconds and repeat 3 times. Do this 4 to 5 times a week, or every other day and you’ll see your abs in no time!

2009 Sep 20 7There are a few different effective ways to lose the weight. First off, exercise. Even if you just walk 30 minutes each day, you will start to see a difference. Any additional exercise that is burning calories will help you, even if it is just a little bit. Try and do a few sets of jump rope or running on the spot. Also, do a few sets of 10 crunches each morning when you wake up or before you go to bed, but morning is better.
Secondly, drink lots of water. Water helps to wash out the fat in your body and can really help you lose weight. I know for me, it kinda bloats me at first but don’t let that scare you away. It will help you lose weight indefinitely.
Third, obviously eat a healthy diet. Don’t starve yourself. Eat normal. If you don’t eat proper amount your will put your body into starvation mode. It will start storing fats and then in the end make you gain weight. This is definitely not an effective or a healthy method. 2009 Sep 20 8Keeping to a reduced weight
Many people who lose weight soon put it back on again when they stop their weight reducing diet. The main reason this happens is because the weight reducing diet was only a temporary cut back of an unhealthy diet. Once you have lost some weight, to keep the weight off you need to stick to a healthy diet. An active lifestyle with more physical activity would also help. Even better is for the whole family or household to have changed to healthy eating habits and a healthy lifestyle.
To keep your weight down you will still need to eat less and/or do more physical actvity than previously. For example, if you have lost 10kg, to keep this off and maintain your weight you will still need to:
* eat about 300 calories per day less than you did prior to the weight loss diet, or
* do more physical activity to ‘burn up’ an extra 300 calories per day, or
* a combination of the two.
Top tip – after losing some weight, weigh yourself once a week to keep a check on your weight.

2009 Sep 20 11Start your day with a glass of water. As soon as you wake up, gulp down a glass of cool water. It’s a wonderful way to start you day and you only need a lesser quantity of your breakfast drink after that. A glass of water lets out all your digestive juices and sort of lubricates the insides of your body. You may have your morning cup of tea but have it after a glass of water. It is good for you.
