I am about 70 lbs over normal weght and when went to my doctor he told me there is no weight loss pills on the market. I am thinkng how can that be? They have medicine for everything!
And I am not relying on pills I do diet and excersize, this would just be additonal help.
I highly recommend forgetting about the weight loss pills. This is going to be one of the biggest wastes of your life. It’s not that they won’t work, because they do, but in the end, you must rely on them. And the moment you start seizing to take them, you will gain your weight back. In fact, you will gain more than you actually lost in the first place. Many people make this mistake, and they wonder how they got there, but actually, it’s really not that hard to understand. So just stick with WATCHING WHAT YOU EAT (not exactly DIETING) and exercising and exercising and exercising. I wish you luck with your weight loss! And for the best results, I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND P90X!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This workout is definitely intense, and you need to totally commit if you want such great results. Good luck!!!

PILLS DON"T WORK!
Just adjust yourself to a healthier lifestyle and continue, you’ll get the and it won’t be such a constant struggle with losing and gaining weight

2009 Aug 13 5There are compounds that do make you lose weight but their side effects are so severe that it is forbidden to market them as weight loss pills. Have you seen "requiem for a dream"?
Think of it, if it would be so easy to lose weight, wouldn’t a lot less people be obese?

2009 Aug 13 7My husband is a personal trainer/nutritionist –> yes, there are weight loss pills — some that can increase your metabolism, some that dehydrate you, some that work your thyroid, etc — but I wouldn’t go to your doctor if you want to use one. Go to a nutritionist — doctors really don’t know much about this stuff

2009 Aug 13 8There are plenty of meds marketed as a weight loss pill. But in reality, most of them cause you to gain far more weight than you would lose on them. Most of them are quite dangerous for your heart, as well. What ends up happening is that you dont eat while taking the med, loose a bunch of water weight while the pill is screwing with your metabolism, and then when you miss or stop taking it because you cant handle the side effects, you eat twice as much and your body is in starvation mode so its stores every bit of it as fat.
Steer CLEAR of anything marketed as a weight loss pill or supplement. With weight, the only real answer is healthy eating and exercise. Its HARD, and it takes a long time. Its healthy to loose 1-2 pounds per week, unhealthy to loose much more. If you start hard core you might loose 10-15 pounds in the first couple weeks, but its all water weight, and it will even out to about 1-2 per week. So at that rate, you are looking at about a year (especially when you count plateaus) or longer to loose 70 pounds.
The most important things, in my opinion…. are to plan your meals and keep a food diary, as well as not to get discouraged about exercise.
If you plan your meals, there is no running around getting snacks you shouldnt be eating. And if you keep a food diary, there is no fudging and not counting, and it forces you to be accountable to yourself about how much and what you are eating. Steer clear of the fad diets. If you are going to do a fad diet, go with weight watchers. They are proven to be the best by actual scientific studies.
Also remember, weight loss is a lifestyle change. And that life style change is more important than the number on the scale. Eating healthy and being healthy is FAR more important than what you weigh or what size you are. TOO many people fail because they let the numbers discourage them.
One more thing… consider the reasons WHY you have gained this weight. Obesity almost always goes hand in hand with some form of depression or emotional addiction to food. You might want to consider a counselor of some sort to help you make the mindful and lifestyle changes you need.

2009 Aug 13 9Well, your doctor is looking out for your best interest by keeping you away from such pills, however, he is not telling you the truth. there are prescription medication for weight loss. Phentermiene (sp?) & Meridia are 2 that I know of. And there are over the counter ones as well. But, no pill is going to magically make anyone lose weight. I have a friend who took a prescription med, and lost a good deal of weight, but as soon as she went off them, the weight came right back on. Plus, they are like speed. Very bad for you.
