Which is better to burn fat and lose weight?

I have about $500 to spend but I can’t decide between an elliptical or a treadmill. Which will burn more fat and I already lift weights so I want the one that will burn fat and help me lose weight but not burn my muscle off.
1. First start by getting up earlier than usual. Around 5:30 AM to do some of you workouts. Getting up early shocks your metabolism because the body needs more energy to get going. Right? This will start your system on the road to weight loss. That early start with about 10 minutes of stretching. Have a cup of coffee to get the blood going also.
2. Do all the sit-ups you can. Just do them. 15 or 20 whatever, we don’t have a lot of time to work with. Rest 1 minute repeat, do this for 6 sets. Already you are breathing hard and feel worn, because the body is working extra hard at being up earlier and then going right into exercise. If the early morning hour lets you get your cardio in, go ahead and do it. 30 minutes.
3. Diet. Cut all current meal portions in half, just cut them in half, nothing fancy or complicated, CUT IN HALF! Cut out all bread products, all gravies, candies, chips, night snacks, etc. If you crave at night eat a banana, other fruit or best a non-fat yogurt. There are some tasty ones out there.
4. In the evening do another 6 sets of sit-ups maxing out each set. Cardio again. The trick is to stay with getting up earlier. Yes it’s hard, that’s why it is so effective. Why do you think the Army gets up so early, it is intense training to the max.

if u want to loose weight manage what you eat.
eat small meals frequently ( it burns calories to conusem them)
drink lots of water and eath fresh fruit and vegatables
join a martial arts class. shadow boxing/sparring is one of the only high intensity cardio exercises there is.
a home trampoline is good 10 minutes is a 30 minute run.
swimming is good as u use every muscle in your body
cycling is good too.
i think its near off impossible to burn muscle. you only loose muscle from not using them.
also learn how to build up your core strength.
and remember with any exercise resting is just as important

2009 Nov 25 2I actually have a treadmill. I run on it for two hours a day, I eat healthy too. I like my treadmill, but if I had $500 I would buy a gym membership. Go for a gym membership, if not, then buy a treadmill

Food is everywhere – on TV, magazines, shops, petrol stations – and can trigger cravings. At home, keep weakness foods out of sight, or out of the house! Serve meals onto plates rather than from dishes on the table. And steer clear of buffet meals – studies show they encourage us to eat more.

2009 Nov 25 4save ur cash or buy a pair of nice running shoes, nike preferably, my favourite they are, and go out there and start running, it can be anywhere, in a park, on the beach, or even on the streets(watch out for cars tho) yea, u will lose weight if u buy that rubbish equipment and work out on it, but the chances are very less. Your just running in one place, its inside ur house, wat sense of ahievement r u gona get? u wont enjoy ur exercise, believe me. u will soon get bored exercising at home, and u will stop, trust me!! where is ur fresh air? moreover, since a treadmill belt moves, it reduces ur running intensity, u need fresh air, REAL running, a good healthy diet with enough carbs and patience to lose weight and be healthy

2009 Nov 25 5Honestly, you don’t need either one. You can just head outside and walk or jog for your cardio. However, if you’d prefer to be indoors, I guess just pick the one you’d enjoy more. Either one of these machines will help with burning fat in conjunction with your current weight lifting routine and as long as you are not overdoing it with your cardio you should not lose any muscle. You should be doing about 10 minutes of cardio after your workout on days when you do weight lifting and doing about 25 minutes of cardio on days when you do not do weight lifting.

2009 Nov 25 6I have both. I don’t use either of them very often b/c I also have a gym membership and several parks nearby. I’d rather get outside than stare at my walls – personal preference.
You can maximize the amount of calories you are burning/fat loss to get a great workout on either machine. (Cardiovascular exercise will not burn off muscle.) Keep intensity in mind – you should be working hard enough to be short of breath, but still able to talk. Which machine drives you to work at the necessary intensity? I tend to work harder on the elliptical because it is easier on my joints. Also think about the space you are putting it in and how you are going to use it. A treadmill is noisier than an elliptical – could be disturbing to others in your household to hear the belt running and/or the sound of your footfalls. The elliptical is taller so if you have low ceilings (like in a basement) you may be better off with a treadmill.
Both will serve you well and need very little maintenance with home use.
