If your Dr. told you to lose weight, would you more likley do it than on your own?
My Dr. told me about this program he offered a few months ago. He told me to try it, it was only 8 weeks long. At first I thought, who does he think he is? Calling me FAT! But he told me that I was borderline diabetic and my cholesterol was very high. So, do I do this program or do I go on medication for the rest of my life? So I did it, twice. 52lbs lost in 16 weeks! I feel so much better and my cholesterol is down! I guess I wanted to get a poll, would you do this program if your dr told you that losing weight would save your life? or would you be offended? its actually meals shipped straight to my house. but its not freeze dried like nutrisystems. It real food and it tastes great! It was all comfort foods too like lasagna and chicken terryacki. Plus they gave me three snacks a day, which were made by tastycake! Let me know your thoughts!
I am actually a stay at home mom. My friends and I were discussing it and one of them was saying they would be pissed if their doc told them to lose weight. So I want to prove to him that people would feel the same as me (he never had a weight issue). I really did do the program and really did lose 52lbs.

I was diagnosed as diabetic 2 weeks ago, and am on an eating regime before my next blood tests in a month’s time to see how they compare to my last one, and if the change in diet has had any effect. My cholesterol was also very high so am working on that too. Soon I see a dietitian and an optician for further checks and advice. When I was first diagnosed I was very upset, it came out of the blue, with no family history, no warning and I was devastated! However, when I started looking diabetes up for causes and symptoms etc and I saw the indicators, eg strong thirst, fatigue, overweight, thrush I thought well yes, that applies, and that, and I was omg if I’d only known the dangers I’d have changed my ways much much sooner!

So, to answer your question, I say take all the advice and help you can get from your doctor and other professionals, and that includes sticking to the altered food regime. Try not to be offended. I am only a little overweight and had got complacent, like many of us do, but if I’d been told by my doctor or anyone that this would put me in a high-risk category for diabetes well I’d have changed my ways much sooner.

I am now on a self-devised regime of low-fat, low-salt, sugarfree foods and drinks and in 14 days have already lost 10 pounds in weight and feel much better. After my next blood tests they will decide if I need meds, or if it can be controlled by food and exercise alone.

I wish you the best outcome possible, good luck and stick with it.

Having shared my experiences with you, and after reading MitoEve’s comments, I hope you are not actually touting for business for this food program…that WOULD be offensive.

i wish my doctor offered the same thing. i wouldnt be mad at all if my doctor told me to lose weight. in the back of my head i know i need to lol. congrats on your loss. i was diagnosed last feb with type 2 and i lost 16 pounds. i didnt try to lose weight until i found out i was diabetic. it was a wake up call for me to see what could happen if i didnt start taking care of myself. it is my doctors job to tell me the truth even if it isnt what i want to hear. if i was bone rail thin and being told to lose weight i would be mad. but most people out there could stand to lose weight so they shouldnt be offended!!

Did you really have to be told you needed to lose weight?

Being overweight and being boarder line diabetic would mean that if your going to be considered a diabetic then the loss of those excess pounds could delay or prevent that from happening……..and your worried about being offended?, be grateful you have a good doctor. 52 lbs taken off is a pretty good wake up call

It’s time to wake up and smell the coffee.
