I do an hour a day of cardio. Last time I did an hour a day 5 times a week and lost about 54 pounds in 3 months. I injured myself and gained weight back so I’m trying to lose it again. I just finished up my 5th day and am contemplating on if i should exercise tomorrow or stick to my old routine of 5 times a week. I do very intense exercise as well not just walking around or something like that. I lost about 7 pounds this week and want to lose 20 more. Thanks

three times a week is the healthy maximum because you need to rest in between times. Visit bodybuilding.com for tons of advice. Good luck.

You can exercise every day if you wish, but keep it fresh by doing something different for at least a couple of days a week.

Running and Jogging could form the core of your workout for warm up, cool down 4 days out of 7.
Boxing or something else high impact, high intensity cardio 3 days a week.
Weights, 3-4 days a week (mix your upper and lower body) or 7 days a week if you want to do upper, lower body exercises separately.
Cross-trainers, exercise bikes etc for boosting your cardio, 4-5 days a week if you wish also.

Swimming, Yoga, Pilates etc are all great and can be done 7 days a week.

If you’re building muscle, its important to give the muscle group a chance to recover, around 24-48 hours depending on the individual. Abdominals recover far quicker and can be worked every day.

Everyone’s different – your mileage may vary

If you gained all of that weight back, you may also want to consider that when you injure yourself you need to cut back when the activity level is dropped.

Within reason injury doesn’t mean you have to stop altogether – consult your GP or a physical therapist to work out a routine to keep strength in the other parts of your body :)

    All the best.
