There are weeks or weekends where I’ll eat lots of junk food and just sit on my butt, and actually lose weight. Then, there will be other weeks, where I run 40 miles while eating healthy, and actually gain weight.
Does anyone else notice this lag in your fitness/diet routine?
Yes and it’s so annoying. I eat and lose weight, diet/exercise and gain weight.

2009 Jul 04 2Yes, it is interesting that you notice and that it even occurs. Our metabolism burns up calories and when we exercise today (especially when we build lean muscle mass), we can burn it days from now.
That is why we have to be consistent.

2009 Jul 04 3Do not starve your self(it never works, although that’s the first thought that crosses anyone’s mind when thinking to lose weight)Eating more frequently, and in small servings, can prevent over-eating. This will also increase your metabolism and make calories burn faster.Eat healthy, drink lots of water, have enough sleep and exercise. This will give you a higher chance of losing weight and improving your health, which would result to a new, healthier you.
Here’s some other quick tips for you:
* Do not skip meals. Skipping meals slicks the body into slowing down the metabolism, attempting to conserve calories during a period where limited fats and fuel are available. Remember that eating increases the metabolism.
* Good cooking and healthy eating begins with learning about nutrition and how to prepare healthy recipes.
* Slowly eat and chew each bite during meals as this would decrease one’s appetite.
* One of the best sources of vegetable protein is from soya beans or tofu. All legumes provide some protein, so include lentils, lima beans etc into casseroles and soups.
* Chilli helps to speed up metabolism – even the milder varieties.
If you have started losing weight, just remember it’s a question of will. Keep doing what your’re doing, stay away from junk food and sodas, and you will feel more healthier and alive than never before.
