   Hiya, In my line of work, it is easy to comfort eat, especially when there’s a deadline to meet and you’re under lots of stress. Finding time for the gym or cooking healthy food was not something I ever really found time to think about. I had never even realised that I’d become so large until someone I knew well, who I hadn’t seen me for a while no longer knew who I was.

   In regards to Hoodia: Jasjit S. Bindra, PhD, former researcher for hoodia at Pfizer (the pharmaceutical giant that licensed the rights to develop hoodia for $21 million but later returned the rights), stated in a letter to The New York Times that although hoodia did appear to suppress appetite, there were indications of unwanted effects on the liver caused by components other than the active ingredient p57 that could not easily be removed through processing.

   Other than this there is very little on actual negative side effects. This may be because there are none, or it may be because we simply don’t understand everything yet. The risk is yours to take!

   The ‘rage’ right now is acai. Acai has no side effects because it’s completely natural and not a medication. Acai is fruit and eating acai or drinking acai juice is no more dangerous than eating apples or drinking apple juice. Because of this, acai is even safe in large doses and in pill form. Unless you have an allergic reaction to fruit, acai itself is completely harmless. However, some acai pill manufacturers mix acai extract with other synthetic chemicals and diet medications, which may harbor some additional serious side effects. Manufacturers are required to list all of the ingredients in their pills, so make sure you take a look at the ingredients and do not just assume you’re buying pure acai.

   I have personally used an acai supplement and felt it gave me what was necessary to achieve my 10 pound/30 day weight loss. I’ll link to where I bought in the source.

   Ephedra-based products have many success stories when it comes to weight loss. Unfortunately the side effects are numerous, even led to a ban in the U.S. (I believe it has been unbanned since, but can be difficult to find– internet is the best option here).

   Ultimately, seek a pill that is all natural from nature with no added ingredients. This will ensure the least negative side effects, which should be no side effects at all.
