   Hiya, In my line of work, it is easy to comfort eat, especially when there’s a deadline to meet and you’re under lots of stress. Finding time for the gym or cooking healthy food was not something I ever really found time to think about.    Alli (aka Orlistat) does work – it stops the body from absorbing fat. BUT it should only be used by those whose BMI is above a certain level (i.e. if you are clinically obese, not just plump) & the pharmacist is supposed to check your bmi before selling it.
   It is claimed to help you lose an extra pound for every two you lose by dieting.
   It has extreme side-effects; as it blocks fat absorption, fat MUST be avoided, otherwise you risk sudden, watery diarrhea. The low fat diet alone would probably make you lose significant weight, however some undoubtedly like the threat of ‘leaking’ to keep them away from cakes etc. Most do suffer some soilage of the underwear, but report it as being grease, as opposed to normal soiling.
   Other over the counter diet aids are dubious. Alli (Orlistat) was a prescription only drug that was prescribed to obese patients, therefore medically proven. You can expect to lose 25% more than dieting alone.
   Personally I prefer the harder & proven diet & exercise.
