Other than the normal stuff like high blood pressure and stuff like that, what dangers does obesity have when you are pregnant? And is it more difficult to get pregnant if you are obese than when you are a "normal" weight?
Yes, its more difficult to get pregnant if you’re overweight. Being overweight, you’re at risk for pre-eclampsia and gestational diabetes. I’m sure there are other things, but those are the main two I thought of. You generally get a gestational diabetes test at some point in your pregnancy. You drink a nasty sugar drink and they test your blood for it. I had the signs of pre-e with my second pregnancy because I was overweight from my first one. (65lbs) Which is why I was induced.
I’m very passionate about health and fitness and I want to help others get in shape and fight the good fight against obesity. How can I volunteer in the Los Angeles area and do my part?
Working for better fitness or better food for everyone is a little more realistic. If you’re passionate about fitness, try coaching a children’s team. Or donating to one of the groups trying to ban trans fats from restaurants or get involved in the slow food movement or somesuch. Read a book like "the Omnivore’s Dilemma" to learn about the problems with our food production and distribution and how you might want to work improve it.
Would a persons weight affect your decision on who you pick to help you conquer obesity related issues such as unhealthy food and proper eating choices and habits. Would you pick a thin person, since they are evidently doing something proactive, hence they are thin. Or would your choice not matter?
also list why.
I think the choice wouldn’t be affected by the person´s weight. However I would demand everybody on the team to increase their levels of physical activity and make proper eating choices to prove that change is possible and set a real example.
Childhood obesity is a big issue around the world now days. So what are some factors that are related to this?
there parents is the biggest factor i would say, the children don’t feed themselves the parents do, and as they get older they pick up on parents bad habits
For a school project…What is your opinion of people who are obese (Not overweight, obese, with a body mass index score of 30 or above). And if you are obese, do the health risks worry you? Your overall feelings on being obese?
*note: I am not against obesity or anything like that. This is just the topic I got stuck with at school.
There are many reasons for a person to become obese. Health problems, like Thyroid or Diabetes. Or a disease that prohibits you from being able to dispel calories, or to exercise.
But, there are also ways to help control these things with a doctors help if the person chooses. medications and diet are a couple choices.
If the person decides not to accept a plan that helps them, then they are setting themselves up for many health problems. Heart disease being front and center. Muscular problems, lung and other vital organ problems. Not being able to get the exercise needed to burn extra calories. There are also mental problems like depression that come along with it.
My personal opinion….you can choose to control it and live..or ignore it and lose your life and the people in it………its a choice.
I am doing a research project for school and i am doing the introduction of my topic(obesity) and I need to know why it is important to care for.
PS: i am willing to view answers of obese people and how they live.
Just off the top of my head…
- Heart problems
-Cholesterol problems
-High blood pressure
-Diabetes
-Strokes
-Joint problems
Good luck!
America instead of blaming the person that is obese? I have worked at Mc Donald’s for a year now and have not gained weight and I eat it all the time. I have actually lost 10 pounds this year. If people would not allow their kids to park their butts in front of the tv, computer, or video games for hours at a time the obesity problem would be A LOT better. Quit using fast food as a scape goat if your kids are getting fat. Look at your activity levels!
Here here. And maybe if you didn’t eat junk ALL the time. Also, like you said, it’s not just about what you eat. It’s about being healthy through a balance of diet and exercise!
