I want to lose about 30-40lbs but I don't want to do a restricting diet only to gain the weight back as soon as I reach my goal weight and stop dieting. Right now I eat between 1700-2100 calories per day and I use the elliptical machine for 35 minutes daily. For fluid intake, I am only drinking water. Can I still lose weight this way?

its so easy a baby could do it

I only breast feed at night right now but all the diet pills I have seen say do not take, or ask a doctor if nursing. Are they really harmful to my baby?
I would never in a million years do anything harmful to my child. That is why I am asking if there is anything "safe" for me to take.

Yes. If you think about it, the chemicals from the diet pills go into your body, which in turn, produces the milk that your baby feeds on every evening.

If you want to loose weight, there's a simple answer, eating habits have to be healthier and exercicing. Yeah I know it sucks to be told what you don't want to hear, but it's the safest way for you and your baby.

I've heard that significantly exceeding your target heart rate during aerobic activities can have a detrimental effect (possibly stripping you of muscle and or retaining more fat)

I am currently weight training four times per week (one day on one day off ie, mon, wed, fri, sun) in the afternoon/eve and doing 30 minutes of cardio at my target heart rate for my age and weight five to six mornings a week in addition to following a six meal a day "glycemic index" type diet in an effort to gain/retain muscle while losing fat and generally increase my cardiovascular health.

Target rates are established for the ability to continue for long periods of time, therefore increasing the value of the excercise. Exceeding this rate simply means you will not be able to maintain that excercise for extended periods. There are different theories out there that will tell you many of those typpes of things as you mention but most do not hold water. It has long been said that short burst excercise has no value but many athletes that play tennis or raquetball show that to be untrue. The best overall diet plan I have had luck with is simply go ballanced on all meals. Roughly equal carbs, proteins, and fats. Combined with excercise this will get you as far as fast as any diets for sale.

I'm currently using a internal "colon" cleanse and I think it's best if I take a natural weightloss supplement… What do you think. I'd really like to lose a good 40 lbs. I recently joined a gym and want an extra boost! Any suggestions??? Thanks!

honestly the only thing that is going to help you lose weight and actually keep it off forever is changing your eating patterns and to exercise. You just need to start eating the right foods, and chose to do that for the rest of your life. It shouldn't be about what can i take to lose 40lbs right now. What happens after you lose the 40lbs? what will you do then? you can't go back to the way you used to eat, you'll just gain it all back. Just eat healthier, watch your calorie intake. Exercise more. Make sure you weight train, muscle burns fat. good luck.

My friend has started running 3 x week, 4 miles per run and on her rest days she uses a rowing machine for 20 min 3 x week. Will this help speed up her weight loss as she is following Slimming World diet and has lost a stone up to date. She weighs 14 stone and wants to get down to 11 stone ?

running builds muscle, walking and other gentle excersise is more effective at burning fat. she's done well to lose a stone though good luck! :)

What/ who do you think is thin??? Name sizes, heights, weights, celebrities, or whatever you consider thin… just looking for something to shoot for in my quest for weight loss… I want to be on the thin side of the healthy spectrum… any ideas?

Ok. I am 13 and i weigh 126 Lbs and im only 5'0''. I am made fun of a lot. People call me fat too much and I see I am fat. What is a good way to burn this fat and look/feel thinner, quickly and easily. I dont really have the best diet either. I really want to tone my body and look good for summer. I also have diabetes.

"Quick and easy" is probably something that doesn't exist in this context. You need to change your lifestyle. And only you can do that.

I'm afraid I can't give you any good advice on diets. Personally, I eat only if I'm hungry. Actually I start to worry about food only when I'm hungry, so usually it takes 0-3 hours before I manage to bring up enough food to eat.

As far as I know, when you're hungry your body is using it's fat reserves. Naturally your body needs certain things to keep up with daily life, so starving all the time will make your condition only worse.

To sum it up; eat less, but eat healthy!

Another way to go is physical exercise. But it's a good idea to remember that while physical exercise burns fat on the long run (lowers your weight) it also creates new muscle mass in your body, which again increases your weight. So your weight might not drop easily, but certainly your appearance is changing (slow change in appearance might be hard to notice – so you might think that since your weight isn't dropping the exercise is doing no good for you).

As it's a long process to become fat, it's a even longer process to undo that. But you'll get to it if you're determined. Probably you wont achieve what you want by this summer, but for sure next summer you'd have a big difference.

Alright, take care then. Don't take too much stress about it and don't do anything too radical – and you should be fine.

And probably the other people here on yahoo have some fine suggestions on what's a healthy food diet. I personally don't know anything about it because I eat whatever I can since I usually don't have enough money to eat enough to gain weight.

Yours,
a happy homeless man from e-cafe. ^^
