My health insurance will not pay for the lappband and I have bad credit so I can't get a loan. Does anyone know if there is any kind of help I can get to have this surgery?
Try to raise money other ways–through friends and relatives. Not loans, but a series of small gifts that will add up to what you need. Find a surgeon who will finance the operation (let you pay his/her office over time).
I've made this suggestion to other people:
Have a big party. Put out a donation jar. Have poker, blackjack or dart (or whatever your friends play) tournaments–winner gets 50% of the pot, you get 50%. Have Tupperware and Body Shop and other consultants sell items at the party–ask your friends to "round up" their orders and you get the difference (if order is $20.39, pay $21) and get the consultants to donate a percentage of their profit to you also (you must have consultants for something as friends). If you know someone in a band, have them play at the party to bring in more people and more money. Put up a web page and ask for paypal donations–sounds silly but it works for a lot of people.
I had a party like that to raise money for my brother to move to California and he got a few thousand out of it. We even got area businesses that we frequent to donate the food.
You can also go to Mexico to get it done. A lot cheaper, but no follow up if something goes wrong.
I wonder why your surgeon's office isn't helping you get insurance approval? Most of them do that. Find another surgeon. Look on the obesity help website.

Does anyone do webinars as social support groups? It would be way cheaper than gertting people to come into a clinic. I guess I am thinking of group therapy by webinar? Think weight loss support groups or a stop smoking intervention. It should be cheap to implement, yet still allow the advantages of interaction among group members?
I think it is a great idea. I know that many 12 step organizations run online meetings and they function and help very well.
I also know a Psychotherapist who does online counseling for sexual addictions. This protects the clients anonymity and helps them to feel safer and be more open.
I knew someone a few years back who did online counseling for women with eating disorders. I have wanted to try and do something like this myself.
Are you a counselor? If you have the expertise to set up the technical part of a webinar I would love to be a part of it.
I have been a therapist for many years as well as a client. I have mostly worked with eating disordered adults and trauma survivors. When I first got on the internet, around 11 years ago, I began looking for this type of thing. That is how I found the other situations I listed above. But that is all I have found.
I do not have my email open for Yahoo Answers but I will put it out here for this question because I am so interested. suzqisme2@yahoo.com
Thank you,

I've taken some time and researched some of the most popular product to try to find the answers for you. The truth is, most products won't help you lose anything but money. There are a few, however, with some research behind them that prove that they actually work.

some work and some dont, every body will have a different reaction to the pills taken. it also requires the right diet and exercise, without you doing those two things you wont get very far…hope that helps

Hello, I'm looking to lose some weight, and have a friend who suggested the Hydroxycut pill for results. Does anyone know about this weight loss pill (side effects…etc) Please let me know =)
Side effects: Higher metabolism, Higher heart rate, Nausea, Upset Stomach, Cold Sweats
I have used it and saw results. I gained 5 lbs but my body fat percentage dropped about 4.5%. The thing is, NONE of the fat loss supplements will work without putting stress on the body. The body adapts to stress. You have to exercise and eat right for any of the pills to benefit you.
